BreathEdge — State Reset Protocols
Situation · State reset before action
2-minute reset before a difficult conversation
The conversation is in ten minutes. You have rehearsed the first sentence four times, and each version sounds worse. If the other person starts the way you expect, you will answer faster than you intend to.

What is actually happening
Difficult conversations are lost in the first ninety seconds, and those ninety seconds run on the state you walk in with. Activated state narrows hearing and turns a position into a defence.
What the 2-minute reset can and cannot do
It can
- Lower the activation you carry into the room
- Restore enough width in attention to hear the first answer
- Create a gap between the trigger and your first sentence
It cannot
- Make the conversation easy or change what the other person says
- Replace preparation or a decision you have not made
- Treat anxiety, trauma, or a conflict that needs mediation
Safety and stop conditions
Breathe through the nose, sitting or standing still. No hyperventilation and no breath-holding beyond what is comfortable. Stop immediately if you feel dizzy or short of breath. Do not run this while driving. Not medical advice.
If this repeats: Conflict Regulation
Matched protocol pack for this situation — guided audio drills and a PDF protocol guide. See Conflict Regulation →
Other situations
- Before a presentation or important meeting
- Before sending an angry reply
- After an adrenaline spike
- Restart focus
- End-of-day shutdown
