What Are State Reset Protocols?
State reset protocols are short, structured breathing sequences used immediately before a pressure moment — a decision, a meeting, public speaking, a focus block, or post-pressure recovery — to recover a usable physiological state before pressure becomes reaction. They are operational tools, not meditation, not wellness, not medical treatment. The goal is narrow: arrive at the next action with a state that lets you read the situation clearly and choose, rather than react.
The BreathEdge 4-phase framework
- Notice the pressure signal. Name what is happening before you respond to it.
- Downshift the physiological state. Run a structured breathing sequence (2-2-4-2).
- Reopen attention. Widen the field again.
- Return to the decision with usable control. Re-engage the action from a chosen state.
Use cases
- Before a meeting
- Before an important decision
- Before speaking
- After pressure
- Before deep work
- End of day
What this is not
- Not meditation.
- Not generic wellness.
- Not performance hype.
- Not medical treatment.
